Among the colourful houses of Kuzguncuk, on İcadiye Street, right next to Nail Kitabevi, a small door: Püruze. The name is a nod to how mornings ought to be — smooth, without a snag. The lady in the blue hat on the wall greets everyone with the same calm; under the brick vaults, a tiled floor, green tables and the cake display welcome you.
The kitchen keeps its measure: the breakfast table is set fresh every day, the season's fruit lands on sourdough, and the San Sebastian cheesecake and the cakes in the display come out of our own oven. Coffee is strong, tea comes in a slim glass, and the table is alcohol-free and calm.
Today Püruze is a café where Kuzguncuk locals and guests exploring this side of the Bosphorus share the same table. Our team walks newcomers through the display and never lets the tea run out. Because what matters to us is that everyone leaves this table as if leaving their own home.
